SmartMusic Blog: One Household, Multiple Students

by James Lund 20. October 2010 08:35

Our Customer Support staff is frequently asked questions about how SmartMusic works in households that include more than one student. The short answer is, it works great, but I’ll share the details too.

Once you install SmartMusic, everyone in your household is welcome to share your SmartMusic subscription; sister, brother, father, mother, grandmother, uncle, niece, etc. The only limitation is that they share SmartMusic on the same computer (you’d need to purchase a second license for use on an additional computer).

Where this could get tricky is when more than one person, using the same computer, will be receiving SmartMusic assignments from a teacher. The good news is that it still works great. Here’s how to make it happen:

  1. Launch SmartMusic.
  2. In the upper-right area, under “Login” click on Create Account.
  3. Enter the first student’s email address, name, and address information.
  4. When asked to “describe yourself,” indicate Student, then select the correct school and class. You’ll see the teacher’s name next to each class.
  5. This student is done! Click Log Off in the upper-right corner.
  6. Repeat step #2-5 for each subsequent student. The only trick? Each student will need their own email address.
