How can SmartMusic compete with beautiful spring weather?

How can SmartMusic compete with beautiful spring weather?

It can’t.

Shall I compare SmartMusic to a summer’s day?

No.

We Minnesotans are so used to weather being nicer everywhere else, we assume this is the case even on the rare occasion when it’s perfect here. As I write this, it’s a fantastic day. Sun? Shining. Birds? Chirping. Accordingly, I have to admit that sitting down in front of my computer with a trumpet and playing scales is not at the top of my list.

This is certainly the time of year where attention spans in the classroom wane and thoughts turn to, well, anything but practice. Thankfully, we just released some long-awaited fun titles (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars) that can help pique the interest of easily distracted young students.

Project one of these pieces up on the screen as students bounce into class and you’ll have their attention. Why not give an end-of-the-semester Gradebook assignment using one of the new titles, and have a little fun with the instructions too. For example, assign “Concerning Hobbits” from Lord of the Rings, and include instructions like: “Don’t practice this before second breakfast!” Sometimes seeing something like that when you’re expecting “focus on intonation” can be a welcome relief!

I guess what I’m saying is, be kind to those in their salad days, and remember that SmartMusic can help you offer a little more carrot than stick.
